Virtual Couch Counseling Group

Thank you for navigating to this page. That alone speaks volumes about your desire to grow and do the work to become a better human being. I'm deeply grateful for every individual and couple who reaches out, and I'm touched by the personal stories you share. While I occasionally have openings—typically working with clients who are familiar with my approach through my podcasts, books, or courses—I'm blessed to have two exceptional associate therapists on my team. Marla and Nate are currently under my clinical supervision as they work toward full licensure, and I have complete confidence in their capabilities.

I understand that finding a therapist you truly resonate with is crucial. Both Marla and Nate have been on my podcasts on several occasions, and they also host their own podcast, “Working Change,” which can be found here.

Whether you'd like to work with me, Marla, or Nate, please don't hesitate to reach out through our contact form to discuss availability and fit.

Nate Christensen

Nate Christensen, APCC, brings a unique blend of life experience and professional training to his role as an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor under the supervision of Tony Overbay. Before finding his calling in counseling, Nate built valuable real-world experience in both construction and insurance underwriting. He holds a bachelor's degree in business management with an emphasis in finance and risk management and completed his master's degree in counseling in 2020, fulfilling his lifelong ambition to help others in need.

Having provided one-on-one therapy since 2019, Nate brings personal insight to his practice through his own journey with major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, ADHD, and various addictions. This firsthand experience enhances his ability to connect with and support clients through their own healing processes.

Nate's therapeutic approach emphasizes collaboration, helping clients explore their personal histories and values while setting meaningful goals. He guides individuals in examining their cognitive processes and implementing positive behavioral changes, always emphasizing the importance of self-compassion and supportive self-dialogue.

Working with teens, adults, and couples, Nate maintains an active, balanced lifestyle that informs his practice. When not counseling, he can be found enjoying outdoor activities, taking walks, immersing himself in books, participating in fantasy sports, and spending quality time with his family. Nate is currently accepting clients and is licensed in California. Nate is available to coach outside of California.
